Campus, formerly known as MTI College, is an associate degree and certificate granting institution based in Sacramento since 1965. Since its inception, the college has offered programs focused on enhancing student’s career opportunities in areas connected to the needs of the economy, including healthcare, technology, law and business. In 2022, the institution underwent a change in control and became Campus. Under this new banner, the college aims to pioneer an innovative model for higher education.
Campus’s model is based on the City University of New York’s ASAP Program and prioritizes quality, affordability, and accessibility. This includes a novel faculty recruitment and assessment process and providing wraparound support to students in the form of 24/7 tutoring and mental health resources, a personalized support coach, and by distributing free laptops and WiFi to students in need. These services are built upon the bespoke online active learning platform, Campuswire, which was internally developed by the institution to meet the needs of this unique model. Campus also offers this platform free of charge to other institutions and it is currently used by students and professors from over 300 active universities.
“As an immigrant and first-generation college student trying to launch my career, I didn’t expect to find a path to a college degree that fit my needs and goals, but Campus has made it a reality for me,” said Campus student Josephine L.
Innovative programming has been a tradition at Campus, formerly MTI College. This includes the Test Pass Assurance program that provides free test vouchers for programs where certification or licensure is crucial for employment, allowing learners to also seek industry-recognized credentials as they graduate. The change from MTI College to Campus will also ensure the college continues to support existing programs that meet the employment needs of the Sacramento area while furthering its commitment to student-centered innovations that help learners pursue successful careers.
“Campus is about maximizing access to world-class education regardless of one’s background or household income. We’re making higher education more accessible, more affordable, and more relevant to the real-world challenges and opportunities that students face today,” said Chancellor Tade Oyerinde.
